What to Expect

After Surgery

  • Once you are in stable condition, you will be discharged via wheelchair to your car. It is normal to feel dizzy and sleepy for the rest of the day after your procedure.
  • Post Care: You will receive verbal and written post care instructions. Your driver must be available to discuss and sign these post care instructions
  • Transportation: DO NOT PLAN TO DRIVE yourself home or use a public transportation. Your ride is more than welcome to wait in the waiting room; however no one needs to wait the entire time.

Recovery Reminders

  • Your Recovery Nurse will contact your family member/loved one about 30mins before you will be discharged to give them adequate time to arrive
  • If you experience any severe pain or extensive bleeding, please call your surgeon or go to the nearest emergency room
  • A nurse from the center will call you within a few days of surgery to check on your recovery
  • Do not drive or operate any heavy equipment for the first 24hrs following surgery
  • Rest and take it slow for the rest of the day
  • Do NOT make any important decisions or sign any legal or important documents within 24hrs after surgery
